1954-1977

Company foundation and early years

In 1954, Hans Heinrich Conzen founded a company for the import of pharmaceuticals, supported by his wife Marlene Conzen, who was also actively involved in the company. In 1968, he expanded the company into Hans Conzen Kosmetik GmbH to distribute hair cosmetics of the Swiss brand ANIFA. Our beginnings were modest; we started out in a small apartment in Hamburg Altona and already achieved a turnover of DM 300,000 in the first year. A decisive turning point was the loss of the distribution rights for ANIFA, which prompted us to develop our own product formulas.

1978-1997

Growth and product development

In the following decades, we developed our own products, such as the successful STRUKTAL foam treatment and the GLYNT hair conditioner. The move to larger business premises in Hamburg-Altona and later in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld enabled us to expand further. Our GLYNT brand became increasingly established on the market and our sales force grew steadily.

1998-2007

Takeover and expansion

In 1998, Stephan Conzen took over the management of the company in the second generation and led the company into a new phase of expansion. The first company headquarters on the outskirts of Hamburg made it possible to expand the range to include oxidative hair dyes. In 2000, we achieved a turnover of 4 million euros and continued our growth.

2008-2018

Modernization and strengthening of the brand

In 2008, Hans Heinrich Conzen passed away at the age of almost 79. He was a courageous entrepreneur, always balanced, decisive and optimistic, very hard-working and tolerant - the advisor of last resort was now no longer there.

In 2012, the GLYNT brand underwent a comprehensive relaunch, which raised us to a new professional level. In 2016, we moved into a new building with larger storage and production areas. In 2017, we successfully launched a second product line under the Graham Hill name.

2019 – heute

Innovation and internationalization

Since 2020, we have been further developing the formulas originally created in Switzerland with our own local research and development department. In 2021, after nine successful years in the old design, we subjected the GLYNT brand to a comprehensive relaunch, which resulted in a significant improvement both visually and in terms of product performance. Today, Hans Conzen Kosmetik GmbH employs around 90 people at the Tangstedt site and a further 50 sales representatives in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
